This is the day when the special chocolate was born. The Evergreen family decided to get together to make the love chocolate we sent you for the special occasion. We also decided to hold a contest among all of you. We welcomed you to submit the story of your special day with the offer of 2 nights in Las Vegas to the winner.

Here is the winning, heart-warming story.

First of all, let me thank the people at Evergreen for their heartfelt appreciation towards their customers. I buy my products from nine different companies, some much larger than Evergreen, and I find the thought and creativity put into designing special seasonal gifts for their customers is outstanding. I feel like you have fun with it and the motivating factor is not money! Evergreen is a company that has a grateful heart at its center. Thank you for your heart. Now here's a Valentine's story that your chocolate inspired.

The First Kiss Chocolate

I placed a small order on Monday, February 12 (2 bottles of Flex SC) and expected it on Tuesday. It arrived on Wednesday, February 14 which made is more perfect. My 13 year-old son had gone to school that morning and when I asked him about any special valentine he might have, he hid his face in his hands and whined, "Mom.." He has a private side which, so far, he has kept private. This side includes anything to do with girls or romance. I laughed at his whine and wished him a wonderful day, planting a big kiss on his cheek as I sent him out the door.

"You are my valentine anyway." I yelled after him as he skateboarded down the street. "Yeah, yeah." He shouted back, waiving a he turned the corner.

The package from Evergreen arrived just before lunch. I opened it and was delighted to find a dark chocolate figurine nested between the products I had ordered. The chocolate was formed into the shape of a heart with two love birds in the center, sitting on a branch, beak to beak. The chocolate was tastefully wrapped in a gold star-studded plastic bag tied together with a gold ribbon. The entire bag was filled with scarlet tissue paper. Enclosed with the box was a heart filled letter stating that this chocolate had a secret ingredient in it--Vitality--an appropriate formula for this special holiday. Just as I finished the letter my son entered the kitchen, home for his lunch break.

"Hi honey, how was school?" I asked.

"Okay," he mumbled, sticking his head in the refrigerator.

"Get any Valentine.s cards?" I probed. He closed the refridgerator door and sat down heavily.

"Yeah, a couple," he said with a sigh.

"Did you give a card to anyone?" I asked.

"Not yet," he said with another sigh. Not wanting to dig any deeper I handed him the chocolate.

"What.s this?" he asked, looking at it closely.

"It's a Valentine's chocolate made with special ingredients."

"What kind of ingredients," he asked, looking at me suspiciously.

"Well, lets just say that the person who eats will might feel like a little romance."

He stared at it for a while and suddenly a huge grin spread over his face.

"Can I have it?"

"Sure. It.s all yours." I answered.

I forgot about this chocolate and went about my day. At 3:30 my son came bounding through the front door, much happier than he was at lunch.

"Well, you.re certainly in a happy mood" What's up?" I queried.

"Can you get me more of those chocolates?" he asked.

"I don.t know, why?" I replied.

"Well, I gave it to a girl I kind of like at school and she ate it all, right there, while I watched. After she finished she looked at me kind of weird, stood up, locked her lips, grabbed my faced and kissed me. Right on the lips! It was awesome, so I thought maybe you could get me some more."

I smiled thinking that this might not have been my son's first kiss, but it was his most memorable.
